Ms. Patte Blood

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year!

It has been a productive and exciting summer as the district administration has worked collaboratively to ensure we provide an outstanding learning environment for all students in Little Egg Harbor Township. We are especially pleased to welcome Ms. Chrissy Cummings as the new principal at George J Mitchell Elementary School and Ms. Kelly Shine, who will serve as GJM’s elementary supervisor. The 2023-2024 school year promises to be a very exciting time for everyone in our school district!

As partners in educating your children, the Little Egg Harbor School District will focus on two goals that support our district’s strategic plan in the area of student achievement. To address the district’s goal to increase proficiency and achievement in student performance in English Language Arts and Mathematics, as measured by district approved assessments, a new mathematics curriculum will be implemented at all grade levels. Ready Math helps teachers create a rich classroom environment in which students at all levels become active, real-world problem solvers. Through teacher-led instruction, students develop mathematical reasoning, engage in conversation, and build strong mathematical habits. The online component, i-Ready, provides students of all ages with differentiated instruction and supports them on their individual paths to success.

Similarly, grades 3-6 will have access to BEABLE, a cross-curricular leveled reading program providing supplemental readings in multiple subject areas. By further promoting reading fluency and foundational math skills, we are taking a major step in our goal to increase student achievement in both English language arts and mathematics.

Additionally, the district’s goal to build an inclusive school environment that ensures equity for all students and an educational program that reflects the diverse experiences and backgrounds of all members of the school community has prompted us to carefully examine our compliance with NJ Dept. of Education guidance on instructional time, class size, and the ability to provide the least restrictive environment for our special needs students. It is our intent to make a more concerted effort to improve communication between the school, our families, and various stakeholders in the community. We will do our very best to keep everyone informed through district broadcasts, email, social media platforms and our district website. Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions or concerns.

As we prepare to begin a new school year, we are filled with renewed optimism and excitement for what our students can and will achieve. It is our hope that you share in our optimism and excitement. We look forward to welcoming you back to school on September 7th!

Ms. Kelly Lindenfelser

We would like to give a warm welcome to Ms. Kelly Lindenfelser (pronounced Linden – fell – ser).  Kelly will be serving as the Interim Director of Special Services effective on or about July 6, 2023.  Kelly will also be advising the ESY program during the summer.

Unofficially, Kelly began her special education career in middle school when her mother started a Special Services Recreation Program in her hometown of Kearny, New Jersey.  Her mother asked her to become a volunteer, and she instantly fell in love with helping the special needs population.  This became her lifelong passion.

Now, after 33 years of serving the special needs population, Kelly brings her vast knowledge and experience to the Little Egg Harbor School District.  Over her career, Kelly has served as Teacher of the Handicapped, Head Teacher for the Summer Educational, Occupational and Recreational Program for the Handicapped, Group Home Manager for the Developmental Disabilities Association of NJ, School Social Worker, and the Director of Special Services for the Kearny School District.  In this last role, as the Director of Special Services for 11 years, Kelly oversaw over 1,000 special services students and their transportation to and from school.  She also directly supervised more than 20 child study team members.

Kelly’s life-long special education philosophy is: “It is our responsibility as educators and administrators to ensure that every child reaches their maximum potential; that is their right as students.  We must do everything we can to assist them in that goal. I look forward to helping each and every student under my supervision as well as their families here in the Little Egg Harbor School District.”
