Dear GJM Community,
The Mitchell School was very busy last month with performances and classroom events! Our second grade classes participated in a Seuss-Tastic music performance and art show. The kindergarten students, first grade students, and the parents of the second grade students enjoyed listening to Dr. Seuss themed songs and viewing Dr. Seuss themed art. Thank you to Mrs. Eastburn and Ms. Marshall for all their hard work in making this performance truly Seuss-Tastic!
The students have been enjoying Scooterville during their PE classes. This event has been a tradition in our school for quite some time. Scooterville teaches the students how to work together as a team as they scooter through ‘Scooterville’. This is always such a fun time in the gym.
Last week we celebrated Autism Spirit Week and the importance of inclusion. Classes wore spirit wear, participated in a walk-a-thon and enjoyed specialized classroom activities. Thank you to all of the teachers for making the week so special and finding unique ways to show support.
On April 29th, the first grade students performed in their Love the Earth Concert and Art Show. Students sang songs that focus on protecting the earth and showing kindness to others. Mrs. Eastburn and Ms. Marshall did a fantastic job of preparing for the show and making this a memorable event for both parents and students.
Just a reminder that we will be celebrating Family Reading and Family Book Fair Night on May 19th. We are looking forward to seeing many families at this event and listening to great books read by our very own teachers and administrators.
Sincerely,
Deniese Guinan
