What hours are you open?
*Office hours for the Little Egg Harbor Community School are 8:30AM-3:30PM.
*The Beforecare Program opens at 7:00 AM until the start of the school day.
*Please walk your child inside and sign in with the Community School Staff.
*All of beforecare and aftercare will take place at the George J. Mitchell Elementary School.
*All programs end at 6:00PM.
Are you open for care on early dismissal days?
Aftercare is only open on Early Dismissal days that are on our school calendar. Aftercare is not open on days of early dismissal due to inclement weather.
Is there a snack time in Aftercare?
Each age group will have a designated snack time. Please send in a snack marked aftercare.
Can my child eat breakfast in Beforecare?
If your child needs to eat breakfast in beforecare please be sure to let the staff know when you drop them off in the morning. If they are getting breakfast from school, please let the staff know so we can ensure they get to the breakfast line (K-6th Grade). The preschool students have a breakfast time at the start of the school day.
Does my child have to be potty trained?
No, your child does not need to be potty trained. Please send in extra diapers/pull ups and wipes. Please place these items in a separate bag marked with their Name and Community School.
Who is allowed to pick up my child?
Sign-In and Sign-Out Policy
Each child will ONLY be released to the adults listed in the registration packet. These individuals must be at least 18 years of age and provide picture identification for the safety of our children and must sign children in and out of the program each day they attend. In order to add someone to your child’s authorized pick-up list, the LEHCS Office must be notified in writing by the parent/guardian who registered the child. No authorized pick-up information will be accepted over the phone. CHILDREN WILL NOT BE RELEASED TO ANYONE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF DRUGS AND/OR ALCOHOL. If a non-custodial parent has been denied access or granted limited access to a child by court order, the LEHCS Program must be provided documentation of the court order for our records in order for us to comply with the terms of the court order. Please be sure to provide updated court documentation to the LEHCS Office and your child’s school office as soon as you receive them for the safety of your child.
Will my child(ren) be able to do homework in Aftercare?
· Our homework time is:
o Monday through Thursday for 30 - 45 minutes each day in aftercare.
o Designed to provide your child with an opportunity to do his/her homework at aftercare.
o Not a tutoring service.
· Our staff WILL:
o Encourage a child to complete their assignments.
o Circulate through the group to make themselves available to the students.
o Direct students searching for materials/information they need to find answers.
o Answer questions to the best of their ability to children who ask them for help.
· Our staff WILL NOT:
o Force a child to do his or her homework or search their book bag.
o Work one-on-one with a child for an extended period of time.
o Give students answers to their homework.
o Check students' homework to ensure it is correct.
o Make sure all assignments are completed each night.
· Our families are EXPECTED to:
o Share their expectations on homework completion with their child.
o Notify the Coordinator in writing if they do not wish for their child to do their homework.
o Check their child’s homework each night.
· Our students are EXPECTED to:
o Ask if they need help or do not understand their assignment.
o Arrive at aftercare with all of their homework papers, books, pencils, etc.…
o Be honest about whether they have homework each day and if they have completed all assignments by the end of homework time if asked.
o Participate in a quiet activity during homework time if their parents do not require them to do homework in aftercare. (No Electronic Devices)
What if there is a change in my schedule?
If there is a change in your child’s schedule, you will have to write a note to the teacher regarding the change. You should also call the main office to make sure they received the change. You can also email the Community School Office at email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Is there transportation provided to and from Beforecare/Aftercare?
Transportation is not provided to school for beforecare or home for aftercare. All beforecare and aftercare services will be held at the George J. Mitchell Elementary School. If your child attends 4th-6th Grade, they will be transported to and from GJM to Frog Pond Elementary by bus. If you have any questions, please contact the Community School office.
